Earlier this year we alerted you to S.1253, a bill that would prohibit the USPS from shipping vapor products. Even in the midst of a pandemic where everyone is being asked to keep their distance and shop remotely when possible, sponsors of S.1253 fail to see the irony and harm of their proposal to ban online vapor sales.
Now, House Democrats are pushing to have anti-vape mail language
from S.1253 included in the federal budget bill.
Like we’ve seen in the past, year-end omnibus budget bills are “must-pass” and include funding that is vital to keeping the federal government running. They are also a popular vehicle for passing legislation that might otherwise fail on its own.
Please take action NOW by making calls and sending emails to your representative. Urge them to oppose a vape mail ban and remind them that many communities are underserved by brick and mortar retailers that mainly sell cigarettes. Many rural communities are too far out for private carriers like FedEx or UPS to serve as well. Prohibiting the USPS from delivering vape mail means that potentially millions of people will be left out in the cold and be tempted to return to smoking.
